Koen's Friends!

Koen already has a few good friends!!! He met Reese, the pretty girl below who is trying to hold his hand, when they came to visit at the hospital. Reese's mom is a good friend of mine from college (Katie, we call her "Ryerse"). We are convinced they will go to the high school prom together!

Koen also got to meet his buddy Brady (who is 7 months old....) last night at girls night. Brady's mom is also a friend from college (Katie, who we call "Becker"). Brady sure is active! He was chatting away, eating big boy food and standing up! Check out the picture below!

Koen has made his appearance!

On Wednesday July 8th, Kyle and I went in for our weekly appointment and since we were a day over due, Dr. G ordered an ultrasound to check baby Koen's size and fluid levels. It was discovered that the AFI fluid was really low and Koen needed to be monitored right away and I was going to be induced (a lot to hear when we expected the words "keep waiting"). It was a bit scary but Dr. G reassured us that everything was going to be okay! We went straight to the hospital, checked into our room and started the crazy process! Just over 24 hours later, Koen was born on Thursday, July 9th 2009 at 4:22pm.....7 pounds 9 ounces....21.25 inches long! He's beautiful! We were pretty darn excited to welcome a little boy into the family! Long live the "Veenis" name.... Koen has a lot of "Veenis" traits already. He has Kyle's exact fingers (you'll have to check it out when you meet him!), his feet, his nose and his lips! My mom thinks he has "Hemenway" ears... but that's about all he has from mom! Koen had so many visitors at the hospital....he loves being around his family and his 'new' friends!!!

It's hard to believe its already been a week and a half that Koen has been with us. The week has been filled with a lot of activities: Kyle took him for his first walk, he had his first doctor's appointment, he watched his uncle play soccer, and so much more. He also loves to watch his cousin Finn play! Pretty soon he'll be able to join him!

It's been great to have Kyle around this past week to help get settled into our new life! He goes back to work this week, so Koen and I will be on our own! Hopefully the weather will keep up so we can go for lots of walks!

Anytime Now....

School is out and the summer has begun. Although the weather hasn't been too cooperative lately...but I'm not complaining...I don't mind it being a bit cooler! I've been keeping busy with lots of fun events while I just wait for Ernie to make his/her appearance. Last week, Brooke, Finn and I went to Ryerse's pool and hung out with Fuzz and Reese (who slept the WHOLE time!!! She's ADORABLE!). Finn had a blast in the pool. He's LOVES the water! The next day we went to the MN Zoo...it rained, but Finn LOVED it. He liked the monkey's the best! I met up with Martina later on in the week for a walk. She's due in mid August and she's doing great. Over the weekend, we met up with some of Kyle's friends on Friday night for TK's Golden Birthday....then went over to the McJohnson's to see their new place/project! They've put their heart and soul into a 'fixer-uper'. We then had Shannon Baily's wedding. We had a great time! I tried to shake Ernie out on the dance floor, but didn't have any luck. The weekend ended with a fun visit from Cullen, Tyra, Ryerse and Fuzz! They all came over to hang out. I painted Tyra's toes, we ate some bagels, drank coffee and caught up! It was so great to see my favorite girlfriends!!!!
This week, as Kyle would say, we are on a 'holding pattern'...Ernie could arrive any time. The doctor said that I'm slowly moving along. Yesterday, Nancy (the soon to be 'first time' grandma) had a luncheon for me and the baby! Then she took me for the best pedicure I've EVER had...AMAZING!!! The Hemenway Family is headed up to Nebagamon for the 4th of July weekend! We are jealous we can't go!!!! Here are some pics of the last couple of weeks...The first is Brooke and Finn at the zoo!!!!
