6 months and a lot of milestones!

Koen turned 6 months on the day we returned from Hawaii! He's had a lot going on.....

*He is now sitting up on his own
*He's trying to crawl, he gets his knees and legs in the right position, but his arms aren't strong enough to scoot him forward (so he usually goes backwards!), if he's on the hard wood floor he can scoot around like crazy.
*Two of his bottom teeth popped through in Hawaii!
*He slept through the night for the first time on January 18th, 2010....a date to remember I tell you!
*He babbles constantly and absolutely loves to giggle
*He loves to make farting noises with his tounge
*He recognizes his name
*He loves his baby food, sweet potatoes seem to be his favorite!
*He's addicted to his Johnny Jump up.
*He snores....just like dad
*He still loves his baths.
*He's a great shopper, he loves to go to the Mall of America!

He's growing up so fast, its hard to believe!

His stats from his 6 month appointment (no percentile changes from his last appointment, so he's growing consistently!):

Height: 27 inches - 75th percentile
Weight: 17 lbs 12 oz - 50th percentile
Head size: 11cm - 25th percentile
Here are some pics of the last few weeks:

Humuhumunukunukuapua'a!!!! HAWAII 2010!

Koen has been quite the traveler in his 6 months of life. He's already been to 3 different states, Wisconsin, California and Hawaii! We left for Hawaii just after Christmas and stayed for 10 days. The trip was planned to celebrate Grandpa and Granny V's 60th Birthdays....and we had an amazing time! It was especially fun for Koen to spend so much time with his extended family! He was spoiled with constant attention (which gave me a great break!!!) from his aunts, uncles, Granny and Grandpa! He spent a lot of time shopping with Granny V, which they both loved!
We spent the first half of the trip in Maui (Kaanapali) at a beautiful resort. We spent the days laying around the pool/beach and the nights shopping in Lahaina. Lahaina is a small tourist town with famous restaurants and fun souvenier shopping! Our third day we took the 'Road to Hana' tour, which is known for it's winding-cliff-hanging roads, beautifully lush landscapes and breathtaking waterfalls! It was a 12 hour day on a small bus (stopping every hour or so)....Koen was incredibly well behaved. We figured out that the new Ergo Carrier was our saving grace! Koen loved being in it! We all enjoyed the beautiful sites, even passing right by Oprah's huge plot of land! We ended the tour at a local winery where we sipped some samples and did more shopping. We spent the last half of the trip on the island of Oahu. The highlight was getting to tour Pearl Harbor, something that I've always wanted to do. The rest of time time we spent at Waikiki Beach in downtown Honolulu. The city reminded me a lot of Rio de Janiero...lots of highrises right on the beach, a great boardwalk and the BEST shopping! There were several high end stores (Prada, Gucci, Rolex, ect) which were fun to window shop at! Kyle was most excited for the Breitling store...where they sell $30,000 watches! HA~! This trip will definitely go down as one of the best!! We are all so thankful for Neil and Nancy and their gracious generosity! Thank you Grandpa and Granny! (the picture above is Uncle Chad holding Koen for the very first time!!!!....and they are sporting their new Hawaiian-wear!)

Here are some of the 300+ pics we took!!!!

More Christmas Celebrations!

On Christmas Eve, we woke up to several inches of snow on the ground! Since it wasn't that cold, we decided to bundle Koen up and take him for a trek through the snow. He loved it and even fell asleep on the way home! That night, we met up with Grandma and Granny V to see the Christmas display at the downtown Macy's. It was the first time I had ever seen it! It was a great time! We then headed to church before going over to Grandma and Grandpa Pop's place for a two night sleep over. We opened gifts on Christmas Day with our immediate family and then went over to the LeMay Family Christmas (I had food poisening, so I slept while everyone had fun..). We celebrated with the Veenis' a few days later. Jon, Suzanne and Katie came up for the big crab leg dinner....mmmm! We also snuck in a Christmas brunch with the Veenis' and the Bailey's! WOW! All in all, I think we celebrated 7 Christmas'!!!! It was an event-filled couple of weeks!
